The iconic Khvostov returns in Destiny 2: The Final Shape as an Exotic Auto Rifle. Unlocking the legendary weapon requires players to complete exploratory tasks across the Pale Heart. Knowing the exact steps and chest locations saves significant time during your journey.
Collecting Lost Encryption Bits
Players must gather 15 Lost Encryption Bits scattered throughout the Pale Heart destination. Nine of these bits are found inside Region Chests located in The Landing, The Blooming, and The Impasse. The remaining six bits are hidden in scrap piles inside Cyst activities unlocked through Micah-10 quests.
Combining all 15 Encryption Bits rewards players with the Lost Encryption Code. This key unlocks a special chest located in The Divide area inside the Cosmodrome Wall. Opening this chest awards the Legendary version of the Khvostov auto rifle.
Gathering Visions of the Traveler and Motes
To upgrade to the Exotic version, Guardians need to locate eight Visions of the Traveler collectibles hidden in secret corners. Placing these collectibles on pedestals in the Speaker's room at the Lost City Tower spawns a sealed chest. You must also collect 17 Motes of Light to convert them into a Mote of Primordial Light.
Nine of these Motes drop from unique Overthrow bosses active across each Pale Heart region. Defeating three distinct bosses in each zone ensures you gather all required drops. Once the Mote of Primordial Light is formed, return to the Speaker's room to claim the Exotic Khvostov 7G-0X.
Optimizing the Exotic Khvostov Gameplay
The Exotic Khvostov features impressive ricochet capabilities that allow bullets to bounce between enemy targets. Collecting Orbs of Power further enhances its damage output and ricochet frequency during encounters. This weapon excels at add-clearing and maintaining pressure in both PvE and PvP activities.
